Ortonville Golf Course is a beautiful municipal course overlooking Big Stone Lake in the City of Ortonville. The golf course houses 18-holes and a club house featuring Alibi Lounge & Grill. The golf course is adjacent to Fairway View Senior Communities, allowing tenants and residents beautiful, scenic views year-round. 

Big Stone Lake is 26 miles long and is located on the South Dakota-Minnesota border. The lake is the source of the Minnesota River and attracts anglers who catch walleye, northern pike, yellow perch, and bluegills. The lake supports over 30 species of fish.

The Ortonville area contains several popular nature areas, including Big Stone National Wildlife Refuge. This refuge includes 11,586 acres in Big Stone and Lac qui Parle Counties in Minnesota. In addition to walking paths and scenic overlooks, the Refuge houses an Auto Tour Route, allowing visitors to enjoy nature from the comfort of their vehicle.

Big Stone Lake State Park is located along Big Stone Lake.  The northern section of the park, called the Bonanza Area, provides a picnic area and boat launch for guests. The area also includes the Bonanza Education Center which provides a place to discover the past and ways to preserve it. The southern section of the park, called the Meadowbrook Area, contains a campground and hiking trails.

Big Stone Lake provides the setting for this popular camping and picnic area nestled in the shade of a native wooded forest. Located on the South Dakota side of the lake, Hartford State Beach Park offers camping, archery, frisbee golf, biking, boating, and birdwatching opportunities. 

Cornfest takes place in Ortonville every August. It is great fun for all ages! Cornfest is typically a three-day event and includes an annual parade, arts and crafts, free hot buttered sweet corn, arts in the park, music, water fights, waffle feed, auction, and much more!

The award-winning Meander Art Crawl is a free self-guided tour of artist studios featuring 40 local artists from the Upper Minnesota River Valley.  This event has more than 30 individual studios in and near the Western Minnesota Communities of Ortonville, Appleton, Madison, Milan, Dawson, Montevideo, and Granite Falls.

Ortonville has two outdoor concrete, acrylic, and hard pickleball courts. These are dedicated courts with permanent lines and nets. The courts are free. Players have access to wheelchair accessibility, restrooms, and water.

Central Park Disc Golf, located in a city park in Ortonville, is a tight and technical par 3 with challenging elevation shots. Players will experience greens, wet hazards, and plenty of trees to add to the challenge.
